A new, but familiar, Executive Director

Assalamu Alaykum,

Our resident scholars Shaykh Umair and Shaykh Qasim would like to make an announcement regarding the Executive Director position for Mihraab Foundation.

Assalamu Alaykum Mihraab Community,

Alhamdulillah, it has been an honor and privilege to serve the greater Seattle community as the Mihraab Foundation's Executive Director since 2013, and Resident Scholar since 2011. I am really grateful for this blessed opportunity and I ask Allah to accept all the work we have done for His sake. I also really appreciate the experience of working with the community that has been very kind and supportive. May Allah bless and reward you all in this life and the next. Ameen.

It is now time to pass on the torch to a new Executive Director who can gain the experience of running an Islamic non-profit organization. This will help Mihraab to be a more sustainable and independent organization in the future, inshAllah. Thus, I am stepping down as the Executive Director and will remain a full-time Resident Scholar of the Mihraab Foundation. Shaykh Umair Ahmad who has been serving as a Resident Scholar since 2015 is now the new Executive Director. I am confident that he will do a good job, inshAllah. May Allah give him success and blessings in his new leadership position.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has been a part of Mihraab and helped me serve the community during my term as Executive Director. JazakAllah khairan.

Sincerely,
Qasim Hatem

Asalaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi,

Masha'Allah by the grace of Allah, it has been a long journey with the Mihraab Foundation. I recall the initial days when a few brothers and sisters sat down to launch the organization in 2008. At that time, we had hopes in Allah ta'ala that He would assist us and accept the efforts as a source of khayr (good) for the community. As Allah ta'ala would plan it, I stepped away from the organization soon after its inception and left the country to pursue the Higher Islamic Sciences. I did not imagine that in my time away from the Greater-Seattle community, Allah ta'ala would bless both the community and the organization with the scholarship and leadership of Shaykh Qasim Hatem. It was my great pleasure that Mihraab invited me to rejoin the organization, this time to serve as a Resident Scholar and Youth Director in 2015.

As our teachers have taught us that if we want to bear the best fruit in the hereafter, then it is vital that the organizations we establish be both sustainable and independent. For this reason as well as the insistence of Shaykh Qasim, I have humbly accepted the responsibility of Executive Director of the Mihraab Foundation. Over these last few years, I have benefitted immensely from my time with Shaykh Qasim, looking to him as both a friend and mentor. I look forward to continuing my own growth by working alongside him in this new position. I would also like to thank the community for all the support it has given to Mihraab over the years, financially and otherwise. I ask Allah The Exalted to continue growing the organization for good and guidance with the support of the community and most importantly, the aid of Allah ta'ala.

Peace and Blessings,
Umair Ahmad
